Distance Learning Program (DLP)
An ABC® Certified Fitter of Therapeutic Shoes is an individual trained and qualified in the provision of non-custom therapeutic shoes and non-custom diabetic multi-density inserts. CFS Allied Health Education’s NCOPE approved ABC Certified Fitter of Therapeutic Shoes Distance Learning Program (DLP) consists of a 12-hour online component that is comprised of Flash-based narrated PowerPoint lectures, videos, and comprehensive lab assignments followed by a 4-hour live virtual class at your location, using web-based conferencing technology, covering the hands-on and lab components. It is ideal for the busy professional that has intermediate computer skills. A high speed Internet connection is required.
Instructions:
· Go to www.certifiedshoefitter.com. Click on Access DLP Program Here link in the red box at the top / middle of the page.
· Enter the username and password provided. Be sure to use the proper “case”.
· First, print out the Lecture Notes for each of the modules. Adobe Reader is required to view these. It is available for free download.
· Begin with the Basic Foot Anatomy lecture. These are large files and take a few minutes to load so be patient. They require the Adobe Flash Player, available for free download. Continue through each video lecture to, and including, the Shoe Adjustment Videos I & II. The latest version of Windows Media Player is required to view Videos. It is available for free download. · Complete each of the Lab Assignments and Self Assessments for each module. Once you have completed all of the modules, Labs and Self Assessments, (Except those marked as Webcam Required) you may request a date for the live video portion of the class by emailing alliedhealthed@sbcglobal.net or by calling (918) 266-3678.
· The live portion of the class is conducted via a webcam, headset w/ microphone and Megameeting.com (no download required). A webcam w/ headset / microphone will be sent to you at no additional charge if you do not have one (deposit may be required). It must be returned before a certificate will be issued. Only one webcam/microphone is needed per site. The live webcam portion of class typically takes around 4 hours to complete depending on number of students.
· A lab kit is required per each site. This kit consists of the following items: Men's / Women's or Unisex Brannock Device, Monofilament, Tuning Fork (128 CPS), Non-contact Thermometer, Molding Pillow, Heat Gun, Pedograph or pressure stats, heat moldable orthotics, and fitting aids (heel pads, tongue pads, shoe horn, etc.). A kit is available for $250 that is yours to keep. If you have some of the items already, you may purchase what you need at www.certifiedshoefitter.com. Only one kit is needed per site. A shoe assortment will be shipped to your location if needed for fitting purposes. This should be returned with the webcam/microphone/headset.
· For additional students at the same site, an add-on kit may be purchased that contains additional pressure stats and heat moldable orthotics for $20 each additional student plus normal tuition.
· You will be issued your certificate upon return of the webcam/shoe assortment and successful completion of the course. NOTE: If the kit is not returned within 14 days of course completion, CFS will charge $250 to the credit card used to pay for the course.
· The Final Exam consists of 50 multiple choice questions covering all of the modules on this website. A passing score of 70% is considered a passing grade. Less than a passing score will require additional study by the student before a retake will be allowed. Only 3 retakes will be allowed.
